1919 Mrs Edmond Gillet decides to create the first golf course in the region of Lyon after returning from a trip to the United States. She purchases two adjoining estates, one in Oullins and the other in Saint-Genis-Laval, spanning 19 hectares. Mrs Gillet hires the first greenkeepers, an English family that was later to be replaced by the Baud family from Touquet.
1929 The Journal Officiel publishes the constitution of the Lyon Golf Club's Sports Association on January 29th, under the presidency of Edmond Gillet.

1962 he Sports Association now has 230 members, but is expropriated for the West Lyon bypass. After a long search, the President Georges Roque purchases the 220 hectares belonging to Villette-d'Anthon, classified as land not suitable for construction (flood-prone area) and more than an hour outside of Lyon.
The 18-hole course (now the Brocards) is designed by English architect Fred Hawtree, with the assistance of Mr. Fenn and Emile Antoine. The greens are equipped with an automatic sprinkler system. Mr. Cottard, a former architect, is entrusted with constructing the Club House. To protect the grounds from flooding, a dike over 2,600 m high is built. Simultaneously, the access roadway, parking lot and Club House site are elevated.
1979 The Lyon Golf Club is selected to host the Open de France. Esteemed golfers such as Gary Player, Severiano Ballesteros, Vicente Fernandez, Nick Price, Tony Jaklin, Bernard Gallacher, Sam Torrance and Eamon Darcy all take part.
Competing with them are some lesser-known players of the time: Greg Norman, Nick Faldo and Bernhard Langer. Only six French golfers made the cut (out of 150), including local pros Lambert Cappoccia and Michel Damiano. Scotsman Bernard Gallacher takes the title.
1991GCL becomes a public company.
At the bidding of Jacques Gontard, supported by his committee and by Jean Louis Diot in particular, it is decided that a new 18-hole course will be created: the Sangliers. Hughes Lambert is the course designer.
2001 The Sangliers course hosts the Open de France as it returns to Lyon. José Maria Olazabal is the winner.
2005 The Lyon Golf Club hosts the 1st Division of the French Championship —the Gounouilhou Trophy—on the Sangliers golf course. The team from Saint-Nom la Bretèche becomes the champions of France after a victory over RCF la Boulie in the final.
2006 Creation of the Lyon Golf Club Seniors Trophy 2006
2007 Creation of the Juniors Trophy, bringing together all the young players in the region at the end of the season.
2009 Lyon Golf Club Grand Prix takes place over 54 holes.
2010 Jeannine Gaveau Cup French Women's Championship Pierre Deschamps Cup
2011 The Men's and Women's teams are in First Division.
Gary Stal successively wins the Mouchy and Murat cups. An exceptional season for our young players, taking him to number 1 position in the French national rankings.
The Men's team wins the Jean Lignel Cup, qualifying them for the European Club Championship.
The team goes on to win the European Championship in Turkey, with Gary STAL, Arnaud Pierre MALINVAUD, Adrien SADDIER, Capitaine Thierry VIOLLET, Coach Hubert SAUZET. The G.C.L. is 3rd in the national men's rankings behind the RCF and Ormesson and 11th in the national women's rankings, where team 1 regained a position in the first division.
2012 Our No. 1 Men's and Women's teams drop to the 2nd division.
Gary Stal goes pro and qualifies for the Challenge Tour.
The sprinkler system for the Brocards course is completely renovated.
Our club ranks 8th in France.
2013 An exceptional season: our No. 1 Men's and Women's teams, along with our division 2 Men's team, reach division 1, where our Senior Women's team holds steady.
Our club ranks 11th in France.
2014 A very good season again for the G.C.L with the maintenance of our two teams 1 in 1st division.
The boys-17 years team goes to 2nd division.
A highlight, Gary Stal finished 90th in the professional European circuit and Charles Almeida finished the Ganay Cup finalist.
2015 Again a very good season for the G.C.L with the maintenance of our two teams in 1st division.
ALAIN ARNAUD is elected new President of the Club.

2016 A very good year for our Club the team 1 Gentlemen champion of France !!! She won the Gounouilhou Cup in Fontainebleau !!!!
The team 1 Ladies in 1st division ranked 7th in the Golfer's 2016 beaten in quarterfinals against st Cloud!
Championship of FRANCE by team Seniors Dames our team is maintained in 2nd division after losing against Chantaco,
These good results are realized by the 3rd place in the order of the National Merit for the Men and the 12th place for the Ladies.
2016 as been the year of the renovation of the car park of the Golf Club of Lyon,
2016 was marked also by the disappearance of Jacques Gontard in January without whom the course of the Sangliers would never have existed, our Honorary President Yves Anselin also leaving us in November.
2017 Our Senior Men's team wins the League Championship for the second consecutive year at the Gouverneur Golf.
Our team 1 Ladies goes down in the second division ..
Our team 1 Man remains in the first division.
2018 A very good year in progress for our Club with our Men's team keep them in the first division, the fabulous climb of our Ladies' team in 1st division, our Senior Men's Champions League for the 3rd year in a row, our Mid Amateur team who return to 2nd division.
2018 it is also our U16 team girls up to 1st division, and U16 boys up to 2sd division.
2018, it is the year when the shop and the welcome space have been completely renoved.
2019 This year will be essentially marked by the centenary of the Club which took place on September 6, 7 and 8, memorable and spectacular.

All of our teams in 1st division this year. This year will be marqued by the retired of one of our PRO Hubert SAUZET and so the arrived of Laurent BALESTRO.
2020 This year after 15 years devoted to the direction of our club, Mr. Frédéric BARBA ended his career, and it is Mr. David RICHALOT Director of the Golf of Aix les Bains who succeeds him.
Also the year will be marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, which the consequencce will be the complete cessation of competitions for several months.
